Matthew Kenney: Saints Heart & Vascular Institute's 9th Annual Celebrity Chef

January 4, 2010 (OKLAHOMA CITY) - Saints Heart & Vascular Institute's highly anticipated cooking event returns for its ninth year with a new flare. Celebrity Chef is going "raw" this year with chef, author and entrepreneur Matthew Kenney on Thursday, January 21st at 7:00 p.m., at the Gaylord-Pickens Museum.

Matthew KenneyThe essence of Kenney's unique raw cuisine uses food at its most primary state, that is, uncooked, basic, untouched and unprocessed - keeping in all the goodness and nutrients, as opposed to cooking or heating them out. Kenney will entertain and educate audience members about the very modern raw food movement, which forgoes heavy sauces, dairy products, and breads. According to raw foodists, no other cooking style offers the same vibrant, deep flavor without the guilt or other effects that other celebratory foods may have.

Kenney is known for his unique organic, vegetarian and sustainable style of food preparation. Based in New York City, he is the author of five cookbooks and has been involved in a number of internationally acclaimed projects as a partner, collaborator and consultant. His most recent project is Oklahoma City's first raw food restaurant, 105 Degrees.

During the event, Kenney will share several recipes, such as Spicy Vegetable Summer Rolls, Heirloom Tomato Lasagna, Spiced Pumpkin Tart, and more. Audience members will sample each recipe demonstrated by the chef, a new addition to the evening.

Tickets to Celebrity Chef can be reserved by calling Saints Physician Referral at 405-231-8866 or registering online. This is a free event and open to the public, however reservations are required.

This is the ninth event in the Celebrity Chef series and Kenney joins the ranks of Bobby Flay, Tyler Florence, Rachel Ray, Sandra Lee, Giada De Laurentiis, Dave Lieberman, Curtis Stone, and Ingrid Hoffmann, as chefs featured at the event.
